Overview

Vickie's, nestled in the heart of Cherryville, North Carolina, stands as a testament to the charm and authenticity of classic American diners. Located at 119 S Mountain St, this unassuming spot is a beacon for those craving hearty, comforting meals made with care and served with genuine warmth. Its space reflects a no-frills, welcoming environment where locals—from early morning farmers to longtime town residents—gather for food that feels like home.

The menu highlights a selection of timeless favorites that speak volumes about Southern diner culture. The Lotta Burger paired with crispy onion rings is a must-try for burger lovers, boasting a perfect balance of savory flavor and satisfying crunch. For sandwich enthusiasts, the Fried Bologna Sandwich served alongside French fries delivers nostalgic simplicity done right, while the Pattie Melt with fries offers a warm, cheesy embrace of classic diner fare. The Dagwood and Dogwood sandwiches, both accompanied by onion rings or fries, showcase Vickie's knack for generous portions and layered flavors.

Breakfast at Vickie's is an exceptional experience—whether you’re ordering eggs over medium with crispy bacon and white toast or indulging in a livermush egg and cheese on toast, each dish is thoughtfully prepared to satisfy morning appetites without complication. The introduction of substitutes like tomatoes in place of grits adds a personal touch that highlights Vickie’s attention to local tastes. For light yet filling options, the marinated chicken salad with fries or chicken tenders paired with slaw fries prove the kitchen's versatility beyond breakfast classics.

What truly sets Vickie's apart is the atmosphere and clientele it attracts. It’s a gathering place where the community’s seniors find comfort and companionship, and newcomers quickly sense the authenticity that modern, trendier spots often lack. Customer feedback paints a vivid picture—patrons appreciate the friendly staff, fresh ingredients, and an old-school vibe rare in today’s fast-paced dining scene. The bustling parking lot stands as proof that Vickie's remains a beloved staple worthy of discovery.

This cash-only cafe invites you to slow down and savor each bite in a space where the past and present meld seamlessly. Whether you arrive for a dawn breakfast with local farmers or a leisurely lunch filled with hearty sandwiches and fries, Vickie's delivers a rich culinary experience grounded in tradition, community, and genuine hospitality.

My first time going and I must say this place is a diamond in the rough. These old timer places are disappearing so you better get in while you can and they still exist. Its not the fanciest looking place but that doesn't even matter. I look for restaurants where the parking lot is always packed and where you see all of the seniors are going and this is it. They know where the good stuff is:)

Very friendly staff. Food is fresh and taste great! Prices can't be beat plus its an old school restaurant that's getting hard to find! Been going here for years and never been disappointed!

Best little cafe in town. I had a really good breakfast there and the coffee is great too. They filled me up without emptying my pockets. Remember to bring cash though, Vickie's is cash only...
